My Diary

Are You Afraid Of Failure or Success?

Dear Diary

Since I am writing to me. I don’t have to worry about if everything is in the correct tense.  Because I am writing to myself and sharing with you.  While listening to yet another 200.00 course that I bought and never complete.  Something hit very close to home.  I was talking to a really good a mine and came to staggering conclusion.  While most people claim that they are afraid of failure, they are in fact afraid of success.  I know you are saying to yourself as my friend said to me.  Who in their right mind will be scared to succeed?   There a lot of people frightened by success or the hard work required to reach said success.  I know that my line is going to be really successful.  I will not lie to you and I get knots in my stomach every time I think about it.  Which probably the reason why I procrastinate doing the stuff that I need to do in order to move forward.

Starting today and moving forward this day forward September 21, 2019, I will now let the fear of success control me.  I now realize that I am my biggest obstacle, not people, surroundings or finances. I will not let the anxiety of fear embrace me from achieving and reaching my goals. Today I will be making some affirmations to catapult me to the next wonderful stage in my life.

I would like to share with how I am overcoming the fear of success.

Have you ever heard the saying “Think long, think wrong”?  God has installed in everyone this wonderful thing called intuition.  If your intuition (gut feeling) is telling you do something, you should do it.  I was seriously damaging my success unconsciously by overthinking it and getting other people’s opinions. Again “thinking wrong and thinking wrong” leads to confusion and pointless procrastination.  Besides I think that everyone has an intuitive spirit.  My intuitive spirit comes from God and intuition in a wonderful thing. You ever wondered how you husband or wife knew that you have been unfaithful with actually catching you. They knew because of their intuition, intuition works in our personal and professional lives.  Don’t get me wrong I am not saying just act on everything you gut tell you.  I am saying I analyzed my decisions and I choose the best action and set a deadline.  I did not allow contemplation to continue for an indefinite amount of time.

I was prepared to be uncomfortable.  Being uncomfortable in business or in life in not such a bad thing.  Change as defined by the dictionary is “make or become a different substance entirely; transform”. All change, even change even if you change for the better, involves some level of distress and hesitation.  I learned that accepting the certainty of discomfort, I actually minimize the effects of it. I then realized that joy that I will feel from success made the discomfort more bearable.

I work hard at being authentic. The most challenging voice that I face is the one that lives inside my head.  That voice was constant and self-critical, I felt less-than and not-good-enough, which lead to bad habits forming and secured fantasies in the darkest of places. I knew that I wanted success and I had the potential for it.  However, I had to make the decision to always be myself and not pretend to be something that I am not.  I begin to realize that I CAN’T TRULY BE HAPPY OR FULFILLED BY NEGOTIATING MY VALUES, GOALS OR THE THINGS THAT I FELT  DEEPLY ABOUT.  My ex jokingly calls me a transgender advocate because I am big of equal rights and opportunities  for all.  .

Life is about learning, facing new challenges and change.  I always think positively when I am faced with adversity and different situations.   There was a time I was very apprehensive about  change.  I fact I used to dread it.  Then I realized that either I was going to accept or reject change.  But what every decision I made the change was still going to happen.  So, I held my chin up high and welcomed the change.  To be completely honest new challenges can be constructive and pleasant.  By keeping an optimistic approach to change I found that my mind became focused and stretched.  I became so enthralled with a project that I actually lost/lose track of time.  Align your thoughts concerning change from negative to positive.

Great minds think alike so aligning yourself with likeminded people serve as confirmation that you are on the right path. They help you to adapt to the industry/career that you are interested. I started investing energy with individuals who stimulated me, inspired me, and encourage me.  It did not hurt that these people are on a much higher level than me because I only motivated me to become more successful. The people you surround yourself with should influence your state of mind and outlook on life. So, I tell you to align yourself with people who welcome success and who know they are fully deserving of everything that success provides them, and their behavior will rub off on you.   But whatever you do, DO NOT spend time with people who try to hold you back or who see life from a negative perspective.

Have a vision, set goals and be passionate. By setting sharp, clearly defined goals, you can measure and take pride in the achievement of those goals, and you’ll see forward progress in what might previously have seemed a long pointless grind. Having a clear objective plus having a timeline  to meet that objective if very important. By doing this I am able to measure and  see your  progress moving forward which insures that  what I am doing is correct and not just wasting time.  By a clear path, my confidence increased because I was able to identify my ability and aptitude in what I was doing as well as the goals that I set for myself.  Once you have set and reached your goals, your passion will take you to the next level.

Life is a journey.  The sweetest victory is the one that’s most problematic. The one that expects you to reach deep down inside, to battle with all that you have in you. Most successful people would agree that the drive to reach your goals far surpasses the goal itself.  Be resilient in your quest for success but have fun while reaching your goals and enjoy the journey.
